Follow our adventures as we live our lives simply and organically. And by organically, I don't mean nutritionally! (Though we do enjoy several organic foods...)
We've been homeschooling for a few years now. This year we are going to be using My Father's World for the core of our curriculum, and Math-U-See for...well, math, obviously. This will be our first year of "officially" homeschooling more than one, so I thought I'd use this space as a journal of our day to day activities.
We've also recently left the institutional church, to begin the discovery of the difference between GOING to church, versus BEING the church. More to come on that, and much more, after these messages!
(Um, I mean, after I get my thoughts together.)

Debby,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog on the Homeschooling Facebook page. I, too, am a homeschooling mom of three that is looking into leaving institutional church and becoming the church. May I ask what prompted your decision? I have been crazily reading everything I can get my hands on about the subject. "So You Don't Want to go to Church Anymore", "Pagan Christianity", "Reimagining Church", and "From Eternity to Here" so far. I am excitedly looking forward to ekklesia! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Brandy
Hi Brandy! You don't happen to live in the Columbus OH area, do you? We're currently having gatherings on Sunday nights -- not truly "organic" yet, but we're moving that direction. I haven't read "So you don't..." but I have read the other three. Actually I'm readng From Eternity to Here right now. I LOVE it! The idea that God's eternal purpose was something more than saving souls really rocked me.
ReplyDeleteI'm also reading Neil Cole's "Organic Church" right now, and I'm finding it really interesting. Sort of same ideas as Frank Viola's, but a bit different voice. I'll post a little later something I wrote a couple weeks ago (when we officially left our institutional church), but it's currently on my facebook page. You can friend me on facebook too! It will be nice to have a little community of organic church-minded hs'ers on there!! :-)
Nope, I live in Oklahoma. From Eternity to Here rocked my world too; very eye opening! I'll go see if I can find you on facebook!
